- Helmet,
- Ride single file,
- Everybody uses hand signals for turns & stopping,
- Wear visible clothes, High Visibility, Hi-Vis for short.
- I suggest white, reflective, or light colored gloves,
- Reflectors,
- Strobe lights,
- Obey all motorist traffic laws (Hint: STOP at STOP signs),
- Pay undivided attention to everything, DO NOT use the phone or anything that takes your attention off of biking!
- Pedestrians have the right-of-way,
- Pack a tire patch kit, tools, air pump,
- Lash your gear to the bike so that nothing moves, shifts, or falls off,
- Ride on bike approved trails,
- I suggest that you wear leather gloves,
- Carry a water bottle or Camelbak style hydration pack,
- Do a pre-trip inspection to check for any abnormalities that need servicing before your trip,
- Do a post-trip inspection to be ready for the next trip,
- Use the same gear as for hiking plus bike tools and repair items,
- Be safe – add comments or send to me additional safety tips that you observe!
2- I use a whetstone to sharpen a knife. I use a file to sharpen an axe or hatchet. Make sure that you are using a file for steel – not a file for wood. Wear leather gloves while sharpening.
S- What do you get when you cross a pond and a stream?
T- Wet feet.
3- What do you do if a horse or mule come down the hiking trail?
Stop. Slowly move off of the trail 4-5 paces (downhill if possible).
Do not talk, make sudden moves, or make a loud noise.
If the rider asks you to do something, please do it if safely possible.
Move very slowly – no fast movements that may spook the horse or mule.
If the rider stops, ask permission to approach the rider &/or the animal. Do not be disappointed if the answer is “NO” or “Only one of you may approach”.
The rider may dismount to pass the group of hikers.
Be still & quiet.
Wait quietly until the rider & animal are well down the trail before moving back onto the trail and hiking again.

- Knife,
- Matches in a waterproof container,

- Canteen on you belt or in your pack,
- Protein bars,
- Back up fire starter.
5- What do you do if lost? STOP.
Stay put. Sitdown & do not panic.
Size up your physical condition. (Injured? Tired? Thirsty? To Hot? To cold? …)
Think about what do to. Take inventory of your resources. Take Notes.
Observe everything around for weather, possible tools, fire building materials, lean to / shelter materials, time of day, amount of day light left before dark, where is my water source…
Plan, Prioritize, and
Act on your plan. Most likely you will be found within 24 hours.
Stay warm & Safe.
Start a fire.
That spells: SSSTTTOPPASSS. STOP for short.

6- Math for electronics and conversion of electrical units When dealing with electrical parameters such as voltage, resistance, current, and power, we use a set of prefxes to denote various orders of magnitude:
• milli- is the prefx used to denote 1 one-thousandth of a quantity. A milliampere, for example, is 1 one-thousandth of an ampere, or 0.001 A. Often, the letter m is used instead of the prefx milli-. 1 milliampere is, therefore, 1 mA. (note: uses the little letter “m” – not capital letter “M”.)
• micro- is the prefx used to denote 1 one-millionth of a quantity. A microvolt, for example, is 1 one-millionth of a volt, or 0.000001 V. Often, you will see the greek letter mu, or , used to μ denote the prefx micro-. 1 microvolt is, therefore, 1 μV.
• pico- is the prefx used to denote 1 one-trillionth of a quantity. A picovolt is 1 one-trillionth of a volt, or 0.000001 pV.
